There is, by now, ample evidence that women are the engine behind economic and social development.  Yet, there are few technologies or products in developing countries–at home, on the farm, or in factories – designed specifically with women users in mind.  Across all the “core” areas, they will identify and develop women-centered technologies to reduce physical workload,  improve productivity, increase access to information, and amplify their voice.  Through their understanding of the various population and market segments, they will work with partners to ensure the products are culturallly appropriate.

Current portfolio

  • Maternal health: A low-cost, solar-powered medical refrigerator to store blood and thermo-sensitive uterotonics for reducing maternal mortality
  • Workplace productivity:  They are currently evaluating projects, and expect to launch a few in early 2013
  • Household quality of life: They are currently evaluating projects, and expect to launch a few in early 2013
